Budget Workshops Underway in Ocean City

The first two budget workshops took place this week following last week's introduction.

After introducing the proposed $72 million budget, Ocean City held two public workshops to discuss the budget this week.

The workshops, held on Wednesday and Thursday, went into more detail on the proposed budget, which includes a 2.89 percent increase, which translates to a proposed $44.9 million increase for taxpayers.

On Wednesday, Mayor Jay Gillian gave a detailed presentation to the public. On Thursday, council members requested analysis of local community centers and overtime expenses, according to ocnjdaily.com.

Budget details are available on the city's website.

The final budget must be approved by May.
