Police continue their investigation and are increasing patrols in the area, in addition to conducting property checks. They ask anyone noticing suspicious vehicles or activities to call 911. Anybody with nonemergency information should call 609-399-9111 and ask for the detective bureau.

Police investigated a string of similar thefts on the south end of the island in 2010, and they implemented a new program last winter to check on unoccupied seasonal properties.
