Truck Causes Brief Traffic Delay Leaving Island

All lanes of Ninth Street and the Route 52 causeway are clear now.

Ninth Street and Bay Avenue is all clear on Thursday afternoon after cargo carried by an R.E. Pierson truck taking a left turn from Bay Avenue onto the Route 52 causeway slid off the truck's flatbed and onto the roadway, according to Ocean City Police Capt. Steven Ang.

The accident occurred about 3 p.m. and caused some trafffic delays for about 30 minutes as police directed cars around the truck, which was stopped on Ninth Street near the base of the bridge leaving town.

R.E. Pierson is one of the contractors completing work on the Route 52 causeway and new mid-causeway visitors center.
