Quick Work Prevents Atlantic Avenue Fire From Spreading

The Ocean City Fire Department responded to the call early Sunday morning on Atlantic Avenue.

Ocean City firefighters arrived at 26 Atlantic Avenue shortly after midnight on Saturday to find a third-story deck ablaze.

The fire extended into the home, but members of the "B" platoon led by Deputy Chief Mark McCulley were able to quickly knock down the fire and prevent it from spreading to the rest of the house and to neighboring units. The property is on Atlantic Avenue between North Street and First Street.

The fire is under investigation, but it appears to be accidental, Fire Chief Chris Breunig said.
