One Ocean City Beach After Fireworks: Dog Waste Smell, 'Disgusting,' Readers Say

Readers provided photographs of the Surf Road beach following the fireworks. No morning trash collection, a reader said, and "beachgoers get to enjoy the smell of dog waste, old food, broken bottles, and overflowing receptacles."

Ocean City residents are complaining about the after-effects of the fireworks from this weekend.

Readers provided photographs of the Surf Road beach following the fireworks. No morning trash collection, a reader said, and "beachgoers get to enjoy the smell of dog waste, old food, broken bottles, and overflowing receptacles."

"A simple trash collection after fireworks regardless of day is an acceptable solution," the reader, Lisa, said.

Trash and recycles are collected on lagoons and bayfront homes after "Nite in Venice," she noted. Beaches should receive the same priority after the fireworks," she said.

"This is overwhelmingly disgusting and unsanitary - a haven for seagulls and yet more trash will accumulate as weekenders will continue to overload the bins," she said.

Previous years have yielded similar complaints for more trash bins, both on the beaches and off walkways.

That is so true, Jim. They do a great job. That is why people need to carry their own trash off the beach, especially on busy weeks when it is overflowing..

It isn't the city workers at fault here....it is the SHOOBES!

I own a home in OC and I know if it wasn't for the "Shoobes" as you call them there would not be an O.C. It is not always the Shoobies leave the trash. Just remember you need the shoobies!
