Ocean City Police Warn of Increased Thefts on North End

The Ocean City Police Department also asks residents everywhere to take extra precautions during the holiday season.

The Ocean City Police Department has recently seen an increase in reported incidents of burglaries, thefts from vehicles and criminal mischief. Most of these incidents have been reported in the north end of town. It is very common for communities to see an increase in these types of crimes during the holiday season.

The Ocean City Police Department would like to remind residents that they should make sure that their vehicles are locked and secure at all times. Do not leave valuables visible in vehicles. Make sure that your homes are locked and secure and alarm systems are operational. When out shopping, be aware of your surroundings and personal items. Park your vehicle in a well-lit area. Make sure that you have control of your handbag, purse or wallet at all times. Never leave these items unattended while shopping.

If you observe suspicious activity or a crime in progress, call 911 immediately. This is also the time of year when people attend holiday functions that involve alcohol consumption. If you are going to consume alcoholic beverages, please have a designated driver. It is the goal of our police department to make sure that everyone has a safe and happy holiday season.
