Gardens Resident Taken to Hospital After Kitchen Fire

An oven fire was restricted to the kitchen area of an Aberdeen Road home.

An Aberdeen Road resident was transported to Shore Memorial Hospital on Monday afternoon for treatment of smoke inhalation after firefighters responded to a kitchen fire.

The Ocean City Fire Department received a call about 4:15 p.m. Monday. An elderly woman had reported that her home at 22 E. Aberden Rd. was filled with smoke.

The woman said she had started to preheat her oven but had forgotten to remove the items inside it.

She was transported to the hospital for treatment, and her condition is unknown early on Monday evening. 

Firefighters extinguished the fire, cleared smoke from the home and contacted family members of the resident.
