Ocean City Detectives Make Drug and Weapons Arrests

In a busy week, Ocean City Police make major arrests in two separate cases.

Ocean City police made arrests last week in separate drug and weapons investigations.

On Wednesday, Aug. 10, the Ocean City Police Department and the Cape May County Swat Team served a search warrant on a property at the corner of 10th Street and Haven Avenue.

The warrant was a result of a month-long investigation into the sale of controlled dangerous substances from that location. The search warrant resulted in the arrest of two suspects: Jared Parker and Christopher Bruey, both of Ocean City.

Bruey, 19, is being held on unlawful possession of a weapon, of marijuana under 50 grams and of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on $1,500 full cash bail.

On Friday, Aug. 12, the Ocean City Police Department recovered two weapons after investigating a suspicious motor vehicle in the 900 block of West Avenue at 11:56 p.m.

Det. Stephen Sullivan and Det. Stephen Schaffer were on routine patrol when they observed a vehicle and white male occupant acting suspiciously in the McDonald’s parking lot, according to Ang.

The officers took up a position of surveillance when they observed a black male exit another vehicle and enter the passenger side of the vehicle being observed.  The black male exited after a few minutes and returned to the other car parked in the lot.

Believing that a drug transaction had just taken place, the officers then began to approach both vehicles.

When the officers approached the first vehicle, it left the parking lot in a hurry.  The officers then began a search in an attempt to locate the vehicle with the white male driver.

The officers then returned to the parking lot to continue the investigation with the other vehicle that was occupied by four males.  When the occupants observed the officers approaching they exited the vehicle in an attempt to flee. The officers upon checking the vehicle observed a handgun on the rear seat.  A search was conducted by the officers for the occupants.

After a short time, all occupants were located at the Transportation Center. All four were taken into custody at the scene.

After obtaining a search warrant, discovered in the vehicle was another handgun in addition to the first one observed by the officers.

Recovered from the vehicle were two handguns: 1) .357 caliber revolver and 2) .22 caliber revolver, both loaded with ammunition.  The guns had been reported stolen from Vineland and Texas.

The four occupants were arrested and charged on warrants issued by the Superior Court of New Jersey.  Those arrested were transported to the Cape May County Correctional Facility.

Arrested were:

  • Lamar T. Roberts, 24, Somers Point, $75,000 full cash bail
  • Anthony J. Livingston, 26, Galloway Township, $50,000.00 full cash bail
  • Robert L. Hart, 26, Pleasantville, $50,000.00 full cash bail
  • Darryl W. Hampton, 18, Atlantic City, $50,000 full cash bail

Charges include: possession of weapons for unlawful purposes and receiving stolen property.
