Middle Township Schools on Lockdown After Weapon Spotted in Student's Backpack

The student has been retained and the situation is under control, Middle Township Police said.

The middle school, high school and two elementary schools in Middle Township were put on lockdown Friday morning after school security observed a weapon in a student’s backpack, according to Middle Township Police.

Police were notified at 7:45 a.m., and police and emergency personnel responded. The student was identified and retained. The weapon was identified as an airsoft gun.

The situation is now under control and all students and staff are safe. All schools have reopened and the day will proceed as normal.
