The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather warning on Saturday.
Thunderstorms, damaging winds, and hail at a risk level that rarely occurs more than a few days per year could begin Saturday afternoon or early evening, according to the warning.
A line of showers and thunderstorms may accompany a cold front, and thunderstorms and hail are also a possibility, the National Weather Service said.
The highest risks are for northern New Jersey.
The National Weather Service said that, this being the first weekend for fall sporting activities, athletes, parents, and spectators should be prepared to seek shelter at the first sign of threatening weather.
