Fire Department Responds to Car Fire on West Avenue

The fire on the 1400 block was under control quickly.

The Ocean City Fire Department responded to a call about a car fire at 9:54 p.m. Friday, according to acting Fire Chief Charlie Bowman.

At 9:56 p.m., the department arrived to the scene in the 1400 block of West Avenue and found flames coming through the hood of a new model Cadillac.

The six responding firefighters had the fire extinguished within a minute.

The car's owner had parked and walked to a house, when he saw the car was on fire, according to the Fire Deparment.

The fire had started in the engine compartment of the car and it has been towed by the police department to the impound lot.
