Fire Department Open House Set for Today

The fun and educational event for youth takes place on Oct. 11.

The annual Ocean City Fire Department Open House will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11,  at Fire Department headquarters, 550 Asbury Ave.

The evening includes informative and fun activities for children. There will be valuable life-saving exercises. A miniature house will be set up to teach children how to crawl low through a smoke-filled building. They will also be instructed on how to “stop, drop and roll” in case their clothing catches fire.

Youngsters will also have the opportunity to use a fire hose and tour the fire trucks. Bring a camera and take photos of your children posing by the engines. There will be face-painting, a coloring contest and a Jaws of Life demonstration. City Police will also participate in the program.
