Coast Guard Medevacs Injured Man Off Coast of Cape May

The 48-year-old man fell five feet while on board a boat Saturday night.

A main remained in stable condition as he was medevaced by the Coast Guard after he fell about five feet while on a boat off the coast of Cape May on Saturday.

Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay watchstanders in Philadelphia received the report at approximately 8 p.m. from a person aboard the boat.

A 45-foot Response Boat - Medium boat crew from Coast Guard Station Cape May arrived on scene.

They transferred the 48-year-old man aboard their boat and took him back to the station. He was then transferred to awaiting emergency medical personnel.

“We decided to launch due to the distance left until they returned to port, there only being two crewmembers aboard, and the fact one of them had already fallen and injured himself,” said Petty Officer 3rd Class Ricky Ringel, a watchstander and boat crewmember at Coast Guard Station Cape May. “We didn’t want them to be in a more difficult situation if something were to have happened to the second crewmember.”
