Cape May County Man Sentenced to Nearly Five Years for Sex With Underage Girl

Michael Kulick, 47 of Dennis Township, previously admitted he had sex with his friend's 15-year-old daughter while vacationing with the family in Pennsylvania.

A Cape May County man has been sentenced to four years, nine months in prison for transporting an underage girl across state lines for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced on Tuesday.

Michael Kulick, 47, of Dennis Township, previously pleaded guilty to an information charging him with one count of transportation of a minor over state lines in order to engage in sexual activity.

He was also sentenced to 10 years of supervised release and must register as a sex offender. A restitution hearing is scheduled for July 9.

Kulick admitted to having sex with a friend’s 15-year-old daughter during a trip to Lancaster, Pennsylvania he took with the friend’s family in August of 2012, according to documents filed in the case and statements made in court.

He and the girl had sex in a Pennsylvania hotel room, despite the fact that the man knew it was illegal in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Fishman credited special agents of the FBI Atlantic City resident agency, under the direction of Special Agent In Charge Aaron T. Ford; in Newark; the N.J. State Police, under the direction of Col. Rick Fuentes, superintendent of the state police, and investigators with the Cape May County Prosecutor’s office, under the direction of Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor, with the investigation leading to the conviction and sentencing.
