Bone Discovered on 42nd Street Beach Thursday

It's unclear how long the bone has been there, or if it's a human bone.

A passerby discovered a bone on the beach at 42nd Street Thursday afternoon and reported it to police, the Ocean City Gazette reports.

The bone was about 12 inches long, and it wasn't clear if it was a human bone, according to the report.

The bone has been turned over to the Cape May County Medical Examiner for evaluation, according to the report.

Ocean City Police Chief Steve Ang told The Gazette it was unclear how long the bone had been there, and it was possible it was stirred up from the bottom of he ocean floor by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
