Water shut off for frozen burst pipes.

Thanks to those involved with shutting off water when pipes were frozen from last weeks temps. Truly appreciated.
any reason why we weren't notified that they had?
we were lucky as it was only external mains but we wouldn't have even known except for my kids stopping by this past weekend.
probably wouldn't have know till springĀ
know there were over 150 properties with same issue. If damage was/is internal could have created mold issue.
again , thankful for the help but concerned about the lack of communication.

it's your property, did you ever think to call a neighbor/family member/friend to go and check on your property knowing the drop in temps? guess it's true, no good deed....

it never occurred to you that water freezes when the temperature drops below 32 degrees. I had to notify plumbers about several properties where water was flowing out of the house. I had no idea who the owners were, but I knew it was a situation where action had to be taken.

Mr B if you own a home at the shore and you want phone calls and updates may I sugest you hire a managment company to keep you updated on your home and save the sarcasm for your family members and not people who are trying to do their job as quickly and efficiantly as possible. A heartfelt thankyou would be better than your current posting.

excuse me? Maxine, I believe you better re-read the comments. I was not the one complaining.

It's important that absentee owners have a system in place for the potential of pipes freezing and other home-related issues. Just because your home is out of sight doesn't mean it should be out of mind. It's the homeowner's responsibility to make sure the home is winterized if it's left unoccupied in cold months.

WOW, can't believe the homeowner is complaining about his water being turned off after a pipe burst. A thank you would go a long way. And did you ever think it was worth winterizing your house. We winterize every year and have never ever had pipes freeze.
