OPINION: Ocean City Roads

Does anyone know who you talk to about the roads in OC? It's an embarrassment a beautiful town like OC and the roads are a disgrace.

Roads are bad! But The city so working on the roads. In order to do that you try to replace infrastructure underneath first. You use cold patch to cover the work until you can mill and pave. You can only pave when it's warm. The asphalt plants close JAn through March. On top of that you get a bad winter. Then you factor in the Summer Season. Result is about 6 months to do a years worth of work.

Something should be done. So many roads are mainly patches. Seven years ago we bought a beautiful home in Ocean City, pay taxes in excess of 20k per year, and were sure the streets were ready for upgrading soon. We were willing to wait. How long has the 5 year plan been in effect? Still waiting for roads in the Gardens to get some much needed attention. Visitors to the area are noticing. Prospective buyers are noticing. I would think real estate would move faster if the roads were in line with housing costs. Who wants to buy a big expensive house on a road made of patches? I did because I had faith in the city government to pay more attention to the infastructure. Still waiting.

Nancy is correct. Roads in the Gardens are awful. Some haven t been repaved in over 40 years. For the amount of taxes I pay, I expect more than just trash pick up!

I completely agree. We've been waiting 14 years for Asbury in the south end to be tended to. They are a disgrace. I would not buy a property in this town again until there was some sign of road improvement. Time to make roads a priority!
