While on the beach the other day, being one of a few there, this woman happened by, walking her dog down the middle of the beach at the south end. She stopped about 20 feet or so from me for it to poop. It was a greyhound dog or resembled one so the 'deposit' was sizeable. Expecting her to pick it up, I was shocked when she used her foot to cover it up with sand and proceeded on her way. It disgusted me but was so shocked I didn't say anything. First of all, thought dogs weren't allowed on the beach and secondly, at least pick it up like you would on the street. Just 20 ft in the opposite direction of me, was a little boy playing in the sand. Where she did this is likely where so many people including children sit and play. I, for one, usually move sand around with my feet. She was so wrong on so many levels. A good while later she came walking back but by the water. Next time I will say something. With being so consciously aware environmentally and wanting to just keep our beaches clean, this was a travesty.
