Obituary: Joanne Gage Behringer, 78, of Harleysville and Ocean City

Behringer was a cooking columnist for Montgomery Newspapers.

Joanne Gage Behringer, 78, of Harleysville, PA, and Ocean City, N J, passed away 
Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Meadowood Senior Living, Worcester, PA. She was the wife of Fred D. Behringer for 55 years.

Born July 8, 1935, in Philadelphia, PA, she was a daughter of the late Barlow and Astrid (Johansen) Gage. Mrs. Behringer was raised in Oreland, PA. She was employed during the 1950s and 60s as an elementary school teacher for the Springfield, Colonial and Wissahickon School Districts in Montgomery County. 

Considered an accomplished gourmet chef, she wrote the Culinary Adventures cooking column for the Montgomery Newspapers for many years and in recent years she prepared the real estate sales information for the publications.

Mrs. Behringer graduated from Springfield High School in Montgomery County and 
from Penn State University in University Park. She was a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association.

In addition to her husband Mrs. Behringer is survived by a daughter Toni L. Cubit and her husband, Harry, of Lansdale, PA; a granddaughter, Melissa L. Cubit of Lansdale, PA; a sister Katherine Herbert of Prescott Valley, AZ; and a brother, Peter Gage of Schwenksville, PA.
