Obituary: Donald E. Nicholas, 74, of Ocean City

In Ocean City, Nicholas loved walking the Boardwalk. He was a member of the American Legion Post 524 and Fairness in Taxes.

Nicholas, Donald E. 74 of Ocean City, NJ passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013, surrounded by his family at Shore Medical Center in Somers Point, NJ.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he had lived in Bensalem, PA and had summered in Ocean City, NJ for 20 years moving here permanently seven years ago.

Mr. Nicholas was a graduate of Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA class of 1962 and worked as a Fiduciary Trust Tax Accountant for Provident National  Bank and Fleet Bank in Philadelphia, PA.

He was a Veteran of the United States Army and a member of the American Legion Movay-Miley Post #524, Ocean City, NJ.

Mr. Nicholas was a member of F.I.T. , Ocean City, NJ and the Ocean City Community Association. His hobbies included photography and antique cars and he loved walking on the Ocean City Boardwalk.

Beloved husband of Dale Nicholas (nee Kretschmar) of Ocean City, NJ, loving father of Donnamarie Hehn (Christopher) of St. Petersburg, FL, Cyndie Bowman ( James) of Feasterville, PA, Johanna Uggla (Kristian) of Exton, PA.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Katrina, Nicole, Andrew, Samantha, Spencer, Ethan and Grace.

A Service of Memory and Love will be offered Monday morning at half past 11 o’clock from The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road, Palermo, NJ where friends may call from half past ten o’clock until the time of service. Burial will be private.

The family suggests those who desire send memorial contributions to either the Maps Foundations, (Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease), 46 Seaside Court, Margate, NJ 08402, or the Ocean City Humane Society, One Shelter Road, PO Box 1254, Ocean City, NJ 08226.
