For the United States, Syria is a no win situation

History shows President Abraham Lincoln learned a long time ago – “that the decision to use force should not be determined by men whose careers depend on it.” Having completed approximately five years of his two terms President Obama has not yet learned from history or experience.

If our President would slow down -- take the time to use history and the past as his guide I am sure he would come to the conclusion that it is not in the Presidents or the Nations best interest to spill the blood of our young career soldiers over Syria in a conflict that we can lose or it can become a draw.

After weeks of hard sell to the citizens of our nation and to the foreign community he has no support from our nation; or from any other nation, NATO, the European Alliance or any African countries. He does have a Luke warm offer from France as long as no conflict involves troops.

The President has been indecisive when he should have been resolute.

Again, history will show that the United States is very capable of collapsing regimes, however, our nations efforts on “Nation Building” is a dismal one. To name a few of our attempts look at Egypt, Libya, Afghanistan and Iraq. From this record it looks no better for the end game in Syria.

Rather than attempting nation building (or muddling) on our part it would be better if we as a nation embarked on the idea that these developing nations need someone such as a benevolent dictator until sometime in the future when they can (after a period of growing up) attempt to create on their own a democracy similar to ours – which in my humble opinion is an insurmountable task.
