Ocean City VFW Names 'Patriot's Pen' Essay Contest Winner

Ocean City Intermediate School student Melissa Kampf wins the local competition.

Ocean City Intermediate School student Melissa Kampf has been chosen as the VFW Post 6650 “Patriot’s Pen” essay competition winner for 2013.

Melissa’s essay was among many submitted from students at the Intermediate School to the VFW Post for the competition. The theme for 2013-2014 was “What Patriotism Means to Me.”

A panel of veterans from Post 6650 thoroughly read and evaluated all essays, which were judged on subject knowledge, theme development and clarity of ideas. The panel commends, not only Melissa, but all participating students for the work put into their individual essays.
