Library Thanks Volunteer and Wishes Her a Happy 100th

Frances Keenan will celebrate her 100th birthday in January.

The Friends and Volunteers of the Ocean City Free Public Library took time at their annual holiday luncheon on Monday to thank the oldest and longest-standing member of their group.

They wished Frances Keenan a happy 100th birthday at the same time.

Keenan will turn 100 in January and has served the volunteer group since 1989. She was recording secretary for 18 years, organized annual book fairs, and served with a quiet grace that clearly made a mark on the large group who came out Monday to wish her well.

Library Board of Trustees President Nancy Larrabee and Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian read proclamations honoring Keenan. Friends and Volunteers President Sandy Crescenzo unveiled a gift: a plaque in Keenan's name to be placed on a new library cart. And the group presented her with an early birthday gift, a cake in honor of her 100th.
