Charles Knox Jr. was a local high school student. Tragically, he passed away on December 17, 1998 at the age of 16. Charlie's dad was a Philadelphia Police Officer, who was also tragically killed in the line of duty on August 30, 1992. Charlie was 9 years old at the time. It was a very difficult time for Charlie but he was a very strong little man.
As he grew Charlie enjoyed hockey, music and computers. He was a bright, compassionate individual who worked hard and always found the time to help others. As a true team player and a genuine friend to all those who knew him Charlie exemplified goodwill. This scholarship is made in his memory and is awarded annually to a student who demonstrates financial need and the desire to pursue higher education. The award is primarily granted on the basis of need, as Charlie considered helping others to be of the utmost importance.
