Veterans Day Ceremony and Dedication Set for Friday

The annual ceremony takes place 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, followed by the dedication of a new mural at the VFW Building at 15th and Bay.

The city's annual Veterans Day ceremony will be held 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, Fifth Street and Wesley Avenue. Following the ceremony at approximately 12:30 p.m., a patriotic mural by Community Art Projects artists will be dedicated at the at 15th Street and Bay Avenue.

The ceremony will include: remarks by Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian; an address by Rev. Edmund J. Speitel, Chaplain (Col. USA Ret.); a talk, "It Is The Veteran," by Commander Bob Marzulli; and Placing of the Wreath by Ted Bethas and Jack Hagen. Spinning Wheel Florists of Ocean City donated the wreath.

The invocation and benediction will be given by Rev. Mark P. Bruesehoff of St. John's Lutheran Church. Kameron Ghanavati will sing the Star Spangled Banner.  Emma Davis of Macedonia AME Church will sing God Bless America, and the Ocean City Band will play during the ceremony,

Clark Manley will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and close the ceremony. Attendees can then go to the VFW for the mural dedication.

Artists Carla Migliaccio, Edward Bogart, Deb and Jim Bowman, Ginny Mulford and Jim Riviello signed the new piece of artwork on the side of the VFW.
