Tuesday Beach Report: Goodbye, Blue Sky

The waves, wind and weather at dawn on the beach and Boardwalk in Ocean City.

On Tuesday morning on the beach on the north end, it's not looking like September—the month we all know and love for its gorgeous blue skies.

Clouds cover the sky and a sea breeze is making the air temps in the 60s feel a little cooler.

We measured 69 degrees for an ocean temperature in the shallow surf, but the water doesn't feel all that inviting. The choppy surf has some size, but little form.

The official National Weather Service forecast calls for a 30 percent chance of showers between noon and 5 p.m.—otherwise, we're looking at a cloudy day with a high of 74 degrees. The wind is expected to turn from the southwest later in the morning.

Surf: The surf on Tuesday morning is choppy with a few sets of chest- to head-high waves rolling in at the right spots. But there are not many clean lines in the slop. We watched a dolphin launch off a wave and get full air—and he looked like he was having more fun than the nearby surfers. The winds should shift southwest today, and high tide is 1:24 p.m. There's enough swell out there to make it worth checking to see if conditions clean up.
