Tropical Storm Gert Moves Up the Atlantic

The low-pressure system should have little effect on Ocean City waves or weather.

While a local rainstorm drenches Ocean City, the Atlantic Ocean's seventh named tropical storm is brushing past Bermuda.

Tropical Storm Gert has sustained winds of 60 mph with gusts up to 70 mph and is expected to pass near Bermuda on Monday afternoon or early evening (Aug. 15), according to the National Hurricane Center.

Forecasters predict that, while Gert may gain a little strength, the storm will move north and northeast of Bermuda, remaining far away from the East Coast of the United States.
