You won't find the in the same spot this summer — but you'll still be able to smell that the same hot-roasted peanuts are nearby.
The shop hasn't moved far — just three doors down from its old location at 10th Street and Boardwalk into the location occupied last summer by .
And a new haunted-house attraction — Zombie World — is making preparations to move into the spot vacated by the Boardwalk Peanut Shoppe.
"It is a smaller but much brighter store where patrons can just walk right up to the counter and get the same fresh hot roasted peanuts in the shell, the hot made-on-the-spot bavarian nuts and many other treats," said Janice Johnston, the new manager of the Boardwalk Peanut Shoppe. "We still roast the peanuts every day in the back of the old store. We have been open a few weeks now at this new location and are getting great positive feedback about the change."
The shop has operated on the Ocean City Boardwalk since 1972.
Meanwhile, a new Boardwalk attraction is hiring staff and addressing final permitting issues before unveiling "Zombie House" this summer.
"A state-of-the-art haunted attraction featuring live actors, animatronics and over-the-top special effects" — that's the description Zombie House offers on a call for job applicants posted on the doors of the building.
(Look for more information on the new attraction as it moves closer to opening in the next few weeks.)
Crazy Susan's Cookies will abandon the Boardwalk and focus this summer on its seasonal location at 1345 West Avenue in Ocean City (now open Fridays to Sundays ... and daily starting in mid-June) and on a new year-round location in Voorhees.
Crazy Susan's Boardwalk location was of "Tough Cookies," the Food Network reality TV show based on the family-owned business. The show , but no new episodes have been filmed since then.
