At 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, tow trucks are attempting to pull a 25-foot moving truck from a small beach across the channel from the Deauville Inn near Strathmere.
State Police from the Woodbine barracks are investigating what led the driver to leave the causeway between Ocean City and Strathmere — but, at this point, they have no idea.
A witness said a tow truck had trouble even navigating a crude and rocky road from the causeway down to the beach to reach the truck.
The Penske rental truck appears to have been headed south, leaving the road just before the bridge into Strathmere.
The front wheels of the truck are submerged, and the tide is coming in. High tide on the bay side of Strathmere will be at 7:56 p.m.
