Thursday Reminds Us That Most of March Is Still Winter

The waves, wind and weather at dawn in Ocean City. A survival guide for surfers, runners, homeowners and all those who can't wait for another summer.

The clear blue skies on Thursday morning look kind of pretty, but it feels ugly cold. The air temperature is 21 degrees and headed toward a Thursday high of only 35 degrees. It feels pretty much like an average winter day—which, of course, it is.

Warmer temperatures (50s) are in store for the weekend, but Saturday clouds and Sunday rain are also in the forecast.

The wind is offshore early on Thursday, and the surf is calm.

The summer countdown: just 89 days until Memorial Day.

Surf: This much is true: On Thursday morning, the winds are steady offshore, and the surf is pretty much dead. Marine forecasts and surf reports, however, are calling for onshore winds today and tomorrow. Probably worth checking to see what shapes up later today or tomorrow. Don't expect anything major, but there might be a little something in the cards. Low tide is just before 1 p.m., and the ocean water temperature has dipped just below 40 degrees.

Boardwalk: Sunny but cold, so bundle up for your ride, run or walk. Wind early on Thursday is coming up the Boardwalk ramps from the west. It could shift from the north later today.

Homes: No worries today.
