Thursday Beach Report: Heat Returns to Ocean and Air

The waves, wind and weather at dawn on the beach and Boardwalk in Ocean City.

On Thursday morning in the surf at 14th Street, we measured a water temperature of 75 degrees. That's about as toasty as it gets in Ocean City and a welcome relief after last week's dip to the low 60s.

The sky is covered by a low ceiling of spotty clouds early on Thursday, but it looks like there are plenty of places for it to break through.

The air temperature is already up into the 80s and the official forecast says we'll hit 87 degrees today—with even hotter weather in store for Friday and Saturday. Rain is not in the forecast.

Surf: It's summertime and the waves are taking a vacation. Seems like it's been a while since we've had surf to get excited about. But on Thursday morning, we're looking at more of the same one- to two-foot surf we've seen all week. It might even be a little flatter. No wavemaking magic in the near-term forecast. Low tide is just before noon.

Traffic: No issues early on Thursday.
