SEND US YOUR PHOTOS: Hurricane Sandy

If you're safe, but have photos of the waves, the roads and the impact of the first hurricane to directly hit the Ocean City region, please upload them here

The effects of what could be the biggest story of our lives was captured by photographer Tom McKelvey, who caught these images of a small boat trying to navigate heavy surf off the Shark River Inlet Sunday afternoon.

We are looking for people to provide a service, and inform the readers about the effects of the first hurricane to directly strike the Jersey Shore in recorded history.

Why do you need to 'check' your home? Is your home worth risking your life or that of emergency workers. Stop being so selfish!

Lisa October 30, 2012 at 08:12 PM
We are on 26th and Wesley, Denise, and it appears that there was no encroachment of the dunes, and, at least at 26th, no flooding from the bay.

Thanks for the updates everyone. We have a house on 49 th and asbury. I was wondering how bad that area was. I cant access some of the videos on the thread here because we are still without power and I can't get it on the iPad. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Any news or pics from 40th and Central, near the Our Lady of Good Council Church? I'm thinking our house is not going to be in any kind of good shape. Also, any idea when we will be able to go and inspect the damage to our home?

Talked to people who visited. Sand up to West apparently. Interestingly, apparently 58th & Central was not hit bad, although the dunes in the South are all gone. Look at video on Adam Joseph's facebook for surge at 53d and Central.
