Run of Great Weather Continues and Surf Is Up

The waves, wind and weather at dawn on the beach and Boardwalk in Ocean City.

Summer is getting closer -- we're down to 18 days until the start of Memorial Day Weekend -- and it's starting to feel like it. We're on our fourth straight day of gorgeous blue skies, and we're looking at more of the same for the rest of the week.

The big surprise on Tuesday: some beautiful waves rolling in from the heavens. A low-pressure system out at sea is sparing us the bad weather but sending us some nice surf.

So it's shaping up to be a spectacular day on land and sea in Ocean City.

Surf: On Tuesday morning at North Street and further down the beach at Third Street, pockets of surfers are enjoying head-high sets. The wind is blowing offshore (bending slightly to the north) and holding the waves up nicely. The surf forecasts say this swell could hang around for a while. High tide is 1:41 p.m., and the ocean water temperature is up to 57 degrees.

Boardwalk: The forecast calls a high temperature of 65 degrees and north winds picking up speed throughout the day. That makes the run south toward 23rd Street easier.
