Rain, Wind and Flooding All But Certain on Saturday

The storm is not expected to leave any snow on coastal areas.

The first big nor'easter of the fall will hit Ocean City today, complete with the usual rain, high winds and flooding.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory in effect from 8 a.m. to midnight today (Saturday, Oct. 29). Northeast winds of 15 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are predicted.

At the same time, the Weather Service issued a coastal flood warning in effect from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

The Ocean City Office of Emergency Management issued a on Friday afternoon urging residents in flood-prone areas to move vehicles to higher ground. The statement also asked residents to secure all loose items outside their homes.

High tides at the Ninth Street Bridge on the bay side of Ocean City on Saturday are 10:34 a.m. and 11:04 p.m.

The forecast calls for a 100 percent chance of rain on Saturday with rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Air temperatures will fall through Saturday from 45 or 50 degrees in the morning to 35 degrees overnight, according to NBC40 meteorologist Dan Skeldon. Snow flakes are possible but accumulation is not likely near the coast, he said.

A measurable snow has never been recorded in October at Atlantic City International Airport (where records have been kept since the 1950s), according to Skeldon.

The weather will likely put a damper on Downtown Trick-or-Treating scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Asbury Avenue merchants will give out remaining candy 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Look for posters in the windows of participating stores.
