New Jersey's First Freedom Gallery to be Dedicated at Ocean City Library Monday Night

The ceremony takes place Monday night.

New Jersey’s first Freedom Gallery will be dedicated in Ocean City Monday night, May 14 at the , located at 17th and Simpson Avenue.

The dedication takes place at 6 p.m., and the gallery features replicas replicas of numerous historic documents. Replicas include the Declaration of Independence, the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights, as well as seminal paintings, including Washington Crossing the Delaware.

A joint effort of the Ocean City Library, Ocean City-Upper Township Rotary Club 1926, and Exchange Club of Ocean City, the gallery is set up to remind those viewing it of the actions and events that formed the foundation of the United States.

“This is a fascinating exhibit that will educate and entertain those who visit the Library and Community Center Complex,” Project Chairman Stuart Sirott, of the Exchange Club, said in a release.

Mayor Jay Gillian, Sen. Jeff Van Drew and Freeholder Susan Sheppard are expected to be in attendance.

The Dramis Detachment 676 U.S M.C.L. Color Guard and members of the Chorus and Band are expected to participate, and hors d’oeuvres will be served following the ceremony.
