Morning Island Report: Summery Swelter Hits O.C.

The waves, wind and weather at dawn on the beach and Boardwalk in Ocean City.

The high temperature hit 93 degrees in Ocean City on Wednesday, and the mercury is headed even higher today with 95 degrees in the forecast.

Even on the beach at Second Street on Thursday, there's not much wind to cut into the haze and heat. But as you get near the 64-degree ocean, there's plenty of relief—and that's the best place to be today.

The ocean is clear and clam with pockets of warmer water just past the breakers (well, just past where the breakers would normally be if we had any surf today).

The official forecast calls for west wind at 8 to 13 mph under sunny skies. There's a chance of a thunderstorm tonight.

Surf: New day. Same report. Our week without surf continues on Thursday. There are no real waves to be found this morning. We did see some folks giving it a whirl on Wednesday evening in a choppy little south windswell. Didn't look like much fun.High tide is at 2:26 p.m.
