Morning Island Report: Still Air Keeping Ocean Calm

The waves, wind and weather at dawn on the beach and Boardwalk in Ocean City.

On Monday morning in Ocean City, the flags are hanging limp in the still air of a sunny day. A pair of paddleboarders are taking advantage of glassy conditions on the bay side, and the surf is pretty much dead on the ocean side.

The ocean temperature at North Street is 65 degrees on Monday morning, and the brief swim to dip our thermometer was not too bad at all.

The official forecast from the National Weather Service calls for a high temperature of 76 degrees under mostly sunny skies—and south and east winds at less than 10 mph.

Surf: The ocean doesn't appear a glassy as it does when an offshore wind is ironing it flat. But there is still essentially no surf on Monday morning. It looks like the summer doldrums are setting in. Keep tabs on the surf forecasts linked below for updates on long-term prospects. High tide is at 11:30 a.m.

Traffic: No issues today ... other than the ongoing construction in Somers Point.
