Monday Brings a Gray Sky and Wimpy Surf

The waves, wind and weather at dawn on the beach and Boardwalk in Ocean City.

On the beach at 18th Street on Monday morning, the world looks pretty gray—with the exception of a thin band of clear sky on the eastern horizon.

Clouds and cool weather are dominating this morning, and the forecast calls for a high near 66 and south winds of 9 to 14 mph. The sun may try to return later in the day.

The ocean water temperature is up to 55.2 degrees on Monday morning, but after a solid weekend of surf,  there are no real waves today.

We have only 28 days until Memorial Day and the unofficial start of another summer season.

Surf: Sunday morning's surf disappeared by the afternoon as the weekend swell dissipated and south winds started to kick in. On Monday morning, we're looking at the same small chop. Nothing much to get excited about. Low tide is around 1:30 p.m.

Boardwalk: It's not a pretty day for a run, but it's not a bad one, either. Winds are light in the morning, and if they do kick up, they'll come out of the south. The trip north toward First Street will be the fun one.

Homes: No worries today.
