Jim Mahar Remembered at Funeral Mass on Thursday

The father of three died suddenly on Sunday after suffering a heart attack.

Hundreds of friends, family and colleagues paused Thursday to remember "a big man with a bigger heart."

A funeral Mass for Ocean City resident Jim Mahar was held at noon Thursday at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church on 13th Street.

Mahar, 53, was a husband and father of three, the owner of the Decompression Wear screen-printing and embroidery company in Somers Point and a well-liked figure in his hometown of Ocean City. He died of a heart attack Sunday night.

Friends eulogized Mahar as a man who honored his wife and loved his children more than anything. They recalled fond memories of nights on Mahar's back porch talking the night away.

He lived on 12th Street with his wife, Karen (Williams), and their three children, Thomas (13) Victor (11) and Millie (8).
