Historical Images: Aerial View of Park Place

Our weekly feature includes photographs from the Ocean City Historical Museum collection and from the modern era.

This week's "Then and Now" features an aerial view looking north from over the Atlantic Ocean around Park Place on the north end of Ocean City.

The first image, taken circa 1940, shows from the Boardwalk across the island and bay to Somers Point. At the bottom left of the image is Fourth Street to the Gardens on the right side of the image. The Hotel Deleware, opened in 1925 and torn down in 1971, is seen where Gardens Plaza stands today.

The second image shows roughly the same area as it appeared in 2004.
