Forecasters Warn of Coastal Floods Through Wednesday

Check our schedule of bayside high tides and consider moving your vehicle to higher ground if you live in a flood-prone area.

The National Weather Service is warning of minor to moderate tidal flooding possible through Wednesday with the evening high tides most likely to be the worst.

A Coastal Flood Advisory was in effect on Monday. And a more serious Coastal Flood Watch will be in effect Tuesday evening.

  • 8:37 a.m. Tuesday
  • 9:01 p.m. Tuesday
  • 9:29 a.m. Wednesday
  • 9:50 p.m. Wednesday

The National Weather Service said Tuesday evening that a Coastal Flood Watch will be in effect Tuesday and probably necessary for Wednesday—with heavy rainfall possible through that period.

The current Coastal Flood Watch affects the New Jersey and Delaware coastlines. It warns that onshore winds (blowing from the ocean) and tides are likely to combine to cause flooding.

"Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal flooding," the advisory warns. "Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting yourself in danger, and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to costly repairs."
