Best of the Weekend Events in Ocean City: Sept. 23-25

Catch a Corvette Show, support a run dedicated to fallen service members, visit a fall farmers market and more.

Some of our picks for the weekend include the annual Corvette Show, a Walk to Defeat ALS and the Run for the Fallen, a volunteer bay cleanup on Sunday and the fall Farmers Market on Saturday.

1.

WHEN/WHERE: 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, between Sixth and 10th streets on the Ocean City Boardwalk.

WHY GO: More than 400 Corvette cars will be displayed with models from 1953 to the present. The show is one of the largest on the East with from as far away as Ohio and Indiana. Registration is held from 8 a.m. till 10 a.m. at the , 26th Street and Bay Ave., on Sunday morning. The Ocean City Humane Society and Food Cupboard will be accepting donations at that location.

Cars depart for the Boardwalk at approximately 11 a.m. and park there till 4 p.m. This year the event commemorates the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. There will be a patriotic-themed display in front of the . The Corvette Club will be headquartered at that location with a special exhibit of Corvettes and T-Shirts for sale.

The Ocean City Humane Society will also have a display in front of the Music Pier. Volunteers will be selling items and collecting donations to support the“no-kill” shelter.

There will be an awards ceremony at 3:30 p.m. in front of the Music Pier.

WHEN/WHERE: Registration starts 9 a.m. for the walk that begins 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the .

WHY GO: The two-mile walk on the Boardwalk raises more than $1.7 million to support patient services and research into finding a cure for Lou Gehrig's disease. For information, call 215-643-5436 or visit alsphiladelphia.org.

WHEN/WHERE: Times and locations vary but are expected to be shortly after noon on Saturday, Sept. 24. Click on the link above for details.

WHY GO: To support participants in the 150-mile New Jersey Run For the Fallen dedicated to military members from New Jersey who died serving their country.

HOW MUCH: Free

WHEN/WHERE: 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, at the 34th Street Bridge parking area.

WHY GO: The city's Environmental Commission is asking volunteers (18 years or older) to help clean waterfront areas on the bay side of Ocean City. A waiver must be signed. Work gloves, bags, life vests and supplies will be provided. Launch locations will be at the base of the 34th St. Bridge. Participants are urged to bring their kayaks and canoes. WHY GO: Fresh local produce will be available at the Fall Farmers Market every Saturday through Oct.1.
