Beach Report: Seaweed Enjoying 78-Degree Ocean

The waves, wind and weather at dawn on the beach and Boardwalk in Ocean City.

In the shallow surf Sunday morning at Ninth Street, we measured 78 degrees for an ocean temperature -- the warmest of the year. The weather station on Atlantic City's Steel Pier is reporting 79.9 degrees.

The ocean is glassy calm with virtually no surf. And all that warm, still water is starting to get a little seaweedy.

Up on the beach, the humidity is light, the sky is blue and we're heading for a high of 89 degrees. The air is still on Sunday morning and the National Weather Service says we'll see only light east winds today. On Saturday, the wind was not enough to keep the greenheads at bay, so if you're heading to the beach, pack some repellent.

The National Weather Service is warning of the possibility of minor tidal flooding. High tides at the Ninth Street Bridge are 9:16 a.m. and 9:25 p.m.

Surf: It looks like Lake Atlantic on Sunday morning. Surfers can take the day off and mow the lawn. The kids on boogie boards may find a little, tiny something. Low tide is at 2:22 p.m.
