Events Production Firm Launches Business in South Jersey, Uniting Ocean City, Brigantine Natives

Two successful South Jersey executives have joined forces to launch a new events production company featuring their expertise in live events, sound/lighting technology, and client services.

The debut of Distinct Events Unlimited unites the talents of Ocean City’s Bill Culp and Brigantine’s Ken Schaffer, in a venture designed to create, plan and produce memorable special events for corporations, not for profits, retailers, community organizations and private clients.

Following decades of presenting impressive events in venues as varied as casinos, marinas, corporate conference centers, and community street fairs and parks, these entertainment professionals have developed a business partnership where every client’s “vision comes alive.” 

“Our goal is to make Distinct Events Unlimited the premier special events production firm in the tri-state region, with an emphasis on innovation, design, management and production,” said Bill Culp, President and CEO.  “Our creative team includes some of the most experienced people in the industry, with years of know-how in this field.”

From his early days in radio at Temple University’s WRTI and WIBG, Bill Culp never lost his fascination with creating, producing and presenting live professional events. Even while serving in upper level corporate management roles with Lotus Development, and Xerox Corporation and as CEO with software giants JBA International and CommercialWare, he has kept a keen eye on the world of entertainment.   

Ken Schaffer, DEU’s Vice-President of Entertainment and Operations is no stranger to the world of live entertainment. He founded one of Philadelphia’s largest DJ/Emcee entertainment companies and is a full-time radio host and regional talent promoter. He has in-depth knowledge of sound, lighting and staging, along with unequalled expertise in coordinating onsite event logistics.

“Bill and I understand that an event’s success begins with organization and professionalism. There is no room for error or leaving details to chance. 

At Distinct Events Unlimited, we will treat each event with our drive for perfection, combined with a passion that only true entertainers would understand,” Schaffer said.           

Both Bill Culp and Ken Schaffer are already high profile professionals in the realm of South Jersey events management. They began their careers as live entertainers in the Delaware Valley and met in 2008 while air personalities for the same local radio station. Now, under the Distinct Events Unlimited banner, Bill and Ken intend to become the definitive leaders in event planning in South Jersey and the tri-state area.

“Theme development is one of our strengths,” said Culp. “We have taken our clients back through the decades from big band elegance, to 50’s sock hops, from 60’s Rock & Roll parties, and 70’s disco dances, right up to present day tastes and styles. We have designed events with a Mardi Gras flair, a safari accent, Latin fiestas, and even a Hollywood Premier,” he continued.  

The New Jersey Cape has evolved into an ideal, year-round destination for a wide variety of specialized events, and Distinct Events Unlimited is structured to  help clients achieve their specific vision, no matter if it involves team-building, incentive awards, fundraising, recognizing a special day, or simply a “thank you” for service or dedication.

“We currently see a void in this area’s events landscape, and we intend to fill it,” said Culp. “Many clients possess a basic understanding of special events, but they need added support. Distinct Events Unlimited was created to fill in those gaps by producing an entire event, from vision and design to promotion and execution or filling in where the client needs us. It’s all about a client’s specific requirements,” he said.
