Yogo Factory Continues Expansion with Grand Opening Weekend in Ocean City

It is the ninth location in New Jersey to open. International expansion is also in the works.

What do Galloway Township, Ocean City, Saudi Arabia and India have in common?

Yogo Factory, of course.

Brian Petruzzi opened his first Yogo Factory in Galloway Township last July with a staff of 10 people, and even he is surprised at how fast it’s grown.

The Ocean City store’s grand opening this weekend brings to 37 the number of stores currently open or being built. That’s a rough estimate, actually, as Petruzzi estimates a new store is approved every 3-5 days, and a new store is opening every 10 days for the next 16 weeks.

“People really liked our first store (in Galloway),” Petruzzi said. “Our second store got the same reaction. In the beginning of the spring, things began to move at light speed, so I’m a little surprised right now.”

Yogo Factory’s popularity lies in its individuality. It isn’t the same as other ice cream and yogurt shops in as much as there’s more room to sit down, and it provides plenty of healthy options.

“It’s the experience of a high end frozen yogurt shop,” Petruzzi said. “It’s a place to enjoy yourself, and particularly on the boardwalk, it’s tough to get ice cream and go find a bench on the boardwalk.”

Petruzzi adds that the yogurt is made on premises daily, and customers have the option to put all fruit toppings on their sundaes.

“The yogurt’s fresh,” Petruzzi said. “We use the best frozen yogurts.”

They also have ice cream and sorbet, but 99 percent of the options are fat free, and all yogurt, ice cream and sorbet is sugar free.

“Kids get what they like and you get what you like without feeling guilty,” Petruzzi said. “We see some people a couple of times a week because they don’t have to feel guilty, and then maybe on Friday, they can get hot fudge or something like that.”

Yogo Factory has a number of non-fruit topping options, including Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, Twix, strawberry shortcake, strawberry cheesecake, New York cheesecake, thin mint cookies and a wide array of tarts, among others.

The Ocean City store marks the ninth store opening in New Jersey in less than a year. In addition to Galloway, other locations include Egg Harbor Township, Haddon Township, Rio Grande, Somerdale and Somers Point. Yogo Factory is set to open in Sicklerville Memorial Day weekend, and Petruzzi has plans to expand into Hammonton, Toms River, and Cherry Hill, among others.

“We have eight in Pennsylvania, three in Florida, two in California, and four in Virginia,” Petruzzi said. “ … We’re working on deals for Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Kuwait and for 10 stores in India.”

Each Yogo Factory is different, and the Ocean City Yogo Factory has a wave bar with stools for customers to sit and enjoy their food while they watch a game on the establishment’s big screen TV. It seats about 70 people, and it’s 1,600 square feet in size, Petruzzi said.

Yogurt is 49 cents an ounce, and that price is discounted when customers come in wearing Phillies gear. They get two ounces for free.

For its grand opening weekend, Yogo Factory is offering a free tee-shirt with purchase.

Yogo Factory offers free WiFi, and there are iPad2s lining the counters.

It is located at 838 Boardwalk, and opens at noon Friday, Saturday and Sunday through May 21. From May 21 on, it will be open seven days a week, 10:30 a.m.-midnight.

Msmandy May 14, 2012 at 01:40 PM
Yoasis on Asbury Ave has much better yogurt and is much cleaner!!!
Newell138 May 14, 2012 at 01:43 PM
Yogo = Unfriendly staff with attitudes,
Jenna maruzio May 15, 2012 at 04:00 AM
I work there everyone that works with me is a local :) how could you even compare yoasis to Yogo factory lol! That's like a Kia to a Bentley ! Lol! There is 11 Yogo factory stores open today , four opening next week. Each store has 12 enployees. That's over 160 people. They all have attitudes? Where! How did you meet all 160 people? Ocean city store is seven days old. How could you make such bogus comments? Have you seen a Yogo factory? Have you eaten their yogurt? Because if you have than you already know who the best is. Lol!

Yogo is by far the top uogurt franchise now in the north east nicest stores, growing from one local store in galloway to 37 in 6 months, enoloyees over 160 nj residents by far the best yogurt, most topoibgs, nicest cleanest store, and withoutba diubt the bestvtrained most helpful staff anywhere. I would suggest both Newell, an employee terminated for not being a team player, and msmandy, owner of yoasis look up trade libel, slander, and defamation and see what happens when ex employees or competitive businesses post false reviews on sites like this and the site owner, in this case patch is supeoned for your ip address. Once that is found your ISP is supeoned for your information and you are than held legally liable for all damage and legal costs associated with your slander, trade libel, and defamation.

Coolest store in Oc. I have one that just opened near my house in haddonfield which is huge and always packed but the lines move fast and yogurt is by far the best anywhere. Also I met Claude Giroux and Danny briere there!

Newell, (Ms. Noel) You were fired on your first day because you were not friendly, happy or respectful to our staff or our clients. We strive to provide an outstanding experience and part of that is being a team player. Now, posting negative false reviews puts you at risk for a slander and defamation lawsuit. Perhaps you should ask your parents what that is all about before you continue.

Your friends were in today and told us the same thing, but they said you already have been in trouble with your school for your "tweets" etc. please grow up a bit and stop slandering a company who has invested 15 million dollars in NJ businesses.

This yogurt tastes really bad, you pay a lot for a cheap product unlike the other ones in ocean city. I would never spend any money here again, the staff looked like robots with no emotions and were obviously being fake. I advise the town of ocean city to not go here. Yoasis is much much better.
Linda May 18, 2012 at 06:54 PM
This place sucks....yogurt tastes terrible and staff is rude .....get off the boardwalk
Nancy Adler May 18, 2012 at 09:44 PM
It's not only the best place on the boardwalk for yogurt, its the best priced too. :). It's also the only real brand they have like 30+ stores if you actually read the article.
Jonathon lobonski May 19, 2012 at 01:29 PM
Why do all the rude fake comments come minutes apart from eachother by an employee who was fired for being miserable with customers? lol This place is the best new thing on the entire OC boards. And by far the nicest store inside on the entire boardwalk with the best yogurt and best prices. There is one near my house opening in sicklerville next to buffalo wild wings we are so excited. IT is just so immature to read all these nice reviews and then there is 2-3 fake bad ones all posted MINUTES apart.. lol grow up whoever is doing this. This company is creating hundreds of jobs for nj youth and adults and is doing it during a recession and everyone i know loves it.
ayria martin May 30, 2012 at 09:26 PM
I really would like to work for yogo factory in sicklerville can someone tell me when they are opening?
Amanda Thomas May 30, 2012 at 09:43 PM
Come to Yogurtland 819 8th Street
Amanda Thomas May 30, 2012 at 09:44 PM
Yogurtland 819 8th street has all proprietary yogurt made in California and shipped to it's 180 locations around the world. yogurtlandnj.com
Nicole Johnson May 30, 2012 at 09:50 PM
Tried yogurt land. Not even close to yogofactory. I mean not even close. Yogo factory is the best yogurt anywhere and I have tried them all. They make their yogurt fresh, and don't ship it from the west coast. Plus they are a local new jersey owned and operated company who created over 200 new jersey jobs in the biggest recession since the great depression. California brands belong in California. In jersey we support jersey, not to mention a heck of a better product.
Amanda Thomas May 30, 2012 at 10:31 PM
we are also a new jersey owned and operated, we are just a franchise of a company of 180 with a structure to support each franchisee and it's stores. We have a corporate training for all of our managers so that quality customer service is achieved at each one of the locations whether it be here, Hawaii, or Alaska. The fact that Yogurtland has bio tech scientists making our yogurt and adding 6 types of good bacteria makes us above the rest for the fact that no one else can sell our product. i can go to any distributor and get yogo's yogurt mix. theres enough business to go around, check out the 18 pizza places and 20 ice cream places.
Amanda Thomas May 30, 2012 at 10:35 PM
Also, any place that is making their yogurt fresh is using a mix and not using real items in their products. IE real strawberries and real cookie pieces. it takes a factory to make yogurt with real ingrediants
Jaime hilsenberg June 10, 2012 at 05:54 AM
Tired them all this weekend. YoGo Factory is by far the best tasting and nicest store. Love all the Yogo factory stores popping up.
Jeanie Salano June 22, 2012 at 01:29 AM
I can officially say I have now tried every yogurt place from ocean city to cape may. There is no comparison. Yogo Factory is not only the nicest stores, they have the best yogurt and way more toppings and fresh fruit than anywhere else. The proof is in the pudding, or in this case, the yogurt!
Eleanor June 22, 2012 at 10:16 AM
Some of the comments come off like they have some interest in one place or the other. I have no interest in any of them - not an investor, didn't rent them the store, don't know anyone personally who works there. But for my money Yoasis has been the most consistently in the things that make me go to a food place. The flavors change and there is always a few new interesting ones, the place is bright and clean and the servers are very polite. That last one is very important IMHO. I don't care how good your product is, if you have rude or not-trained-well help i am not going to be a repeat customer.
Tina S June 28, 2012 at 03:15 AM
Thank you for the positive feedback Eleanor! Make sure to stop into Yoasis Mondays and Wednesdays 5pm-6pm for Half Price Happy Hour
Eleanor June 28, 2012 at 09:42 AM
Stopped in again a few days ago - another positive experience. Really well run - and i love that Irish mint flavor!
Gillian Keith July 16, 2012 at 05:19 AM
How funny is this article, about YoGo Factory, and all the other lil' yogurt shops try to post and get business from it. Funny and pathetic both at the same time. Beings YoGo is a local family run business that put 18 stores up so far in 11 months, and has by far the nicest stores and best product, I give them props for that. How about the people from the other stores just go buy some ads and stop posting on an article about the only good yogurt place in ocean city! LOL!
Eleanor July 16, 2012 at 10:23 AM
@Gillian I hope you are not referring to my post. As i stated, i am not an owner or friend of owner of any of the yogurt places. I prefer Yoasis for the flavors and also for the politeness of the service. Also I did not know that Yogo was locally owned but know that Yoasis is locally owned. I like to see locals start up businesses here.
Austin Fox August 17, 2012 at 08:22 PM
I think it's funny how all the other yogurt businesses are advertising on an article about Yogo Factory...
Buttcheek Myers September 07, 2012 at 08:41 PM
Shut up everyone you don't even know what it tastes like........ Yogo is amazing
John Smith September 07, 2012 at 11:03 PM
Put a YoGo on Asbury Avenue... that will revitalize the down town shopping district! hahaha... I have eaten at the Somers point location... Staff was OK taste was OK... I like Khors or Custard Hut myself... if you are gonna cheat on the diet swing for the fences!
