Sunrise Cafe Reopens on 12th and Asbury

The cafe was originally located at 949 Asbury, but opened in an expanded location this week.

The Sunrise Cafe reopened in a new location Thursday, on the corner of 12th Street and Asbury Avenue.

The cafe originally opened at 949 Asbury Avenue in May, but moved into an expanded location this week. The new location was vacant since Superstorm Sandy hit the area in 2012.

"We are very excited to showcase our completely renovated space," Sunrise Cafe owner RJ Ridell said in an email this week.

He added that the breakfast bar top is made out of reclaimed wood from the recently demolished Christian Brothers retreat. That building was demolished last month.

The cafe is open for both breakfast and lunch, and donates a portion of their sales to the “Cure Alzheimer’s Fund” in honor of Idell's mother Helen Reid.
