Public Forum on Downtown Improvements Set for 7 p.m. Tonight

Anybody with an interest in downtown Ocean City is invited to attend the meeting 7 p.m. March 1 at the library.

The public is invited to a to discuss suggestions for capital improvements to downtown Ocean City.

The event takes place in the lecture room at the  at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 1.

The forum is organized by Michael Hinchman, an Ocean City resident interested in forming a coalition of citizens, merchants and city officials to act on suggestions from the event. (.)

Hinchman said he will act as moderator for the forum, which will be dedicated to suggestions for capital improvements for the downtown and nothing else.

He said the event will start with suggestions for improvements from the audience. It will continue with a PowerPoint presentation showing how low-cost improvements (signage, vegetation, pedestrian connectors to parking lots, and a small pocket park, for instance) might be achieved. The event will also include a chance for invited elected officials and business leaders to provide their input.

The meeting may also include a call for volunteers to serve on committees charged with following through on suggestions.
