New 34th Street Welcome Center to Open June 15
The information center will serve visitors entering the southern end of the island.
Carpenters are at work this week customizing a $2,000 trailer to serve as a new visitor Welcome Center on 34th Street.
The new facility is located in a corner of the Acme parking lot and will open June 15, according to Councilwoman Karen Bergman, a member of the Ocean City Tourism Development Commission.
The has operated information centers on the Route 52 causeway or Ninth Street for decades. The new Welcome Center will serve the visitors who enter Ocean City at the southern end of the island.

The center will be staffed by Chamber of Commerce employees with the additional staffing costs funded by the Chamber and the Tourism Commission. The facility will be open only for the summer.
Ocean City Business Administrator Mike Dattilo said the city bought trailer for $2,000 and that is allowing the Welcome Center to use the spot at no cost. The trailer will be moved after the season.

The new Welcome Center will offer information on Ocean City accommodations, attractions and restaurants. Free printed brochures will be available. And beach tags will be for sale.
