Halloween Events Draw Big Crowds

Saturday kicked off the countdown to Halloween.

Halloween events were a big hit Saturday and are just the beginning of a fun filled week.

The PTA hosted a Halloween Dog Costume Contest in the morning that brought out 26 contestants.

Later, The Shirt Shack sponsored hay rides on the Boardwalk that drew large lines. Children trick or treated at Boardwalk shops.

Upcoming events are listed below:

Tuesday:Trick Or Treat Mini Golf from 5-7 p.m. at Golden Galleon Golf Course. For $5 and a costume each person can golf while collecting candy at every even hole on the course.

Thursday: Halloween Parade at 7:15 p.m. from 6th to 11th streets. Entries line up at 6th streeet starting at 6:30 p.m.

Friday: 5th Annual Fright Night Costume Party at the Flander's hotel from 7-11 p.m. Sponsored by the Community Art Projects Committee (CAP) of Ocean City.

Friday and Saturday: Poe Evermore at the Ocean City Repertory Theater. The event will include feature stories by Edgar Allen Poe including The Bells, Annabel Lee, The Black Cat, The Cask of Amontillado, The Tell-Tale Heart, The Raven and more. Cost is $10 and a dessert reception is included.

Saturday: Downtown Merchants Trick or Treat is from 2-4 p.m. Participating merchants between 6th and 11th streets will hand out candy to each costumed child.

Sunday: Trick or Trot 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run will take place on the boardwalk with a 7:30 a.m. registration start time at the Music Pier.
