Four Ways to Save Money: From Gas on the Parkway to Lenten Fish

Take a look at some of the deals we found this week and contribute your own information on good deals.

This column will be dedicated to giving you great local deals each week that will help your family’s bottom line. Let us hear about the deals you've seen. Just add them to our comment box.

Deal: Here's a reminder about a New Jersey Turnpike Authority policy that sometimes helps consumers. The state changes gas prices on the Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway only once a week: on Fridays. So while the prices at the pump are skyrocketing everywhere else, Parkway gas is stuck at $3.26 a gallon for the next two days. It's a good deal if you're traveling the Parkway soon.

Good through: Thursday, March 10

Deal: Winter lunch specials include half-portion dinner entrees from $6.95 to $9.95 ($7.95 to $14.95 for seafood entrees).

Good through: Every day, 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m., through winter.

Deal: Yeah, we know, it's farm-raised, and it's frozen. But it's also Lent for many folks. So the four-for-$10 deal on 12-ounce packages of tilapia fillets is good one to take advantage of for the season.

Good through: Thursday, March 10

Deal: OK, if fish isn't your thing, Lancaster brand T-bones and porterhouse steaks are for sale for $4.99 per pound.

Good through: Thursday, March 10
